Meet Isabelle Jenkins
Isabelle joined the Idaho Workforce Development Council as our Spring 2025 intern while completing her final semester at Boise State University. As her internship came to a close, we caught up with Isabelle to reflect on her experience, growth, and favorite moments.
Isabelle brought a passion for community impact to every part of her experience. While finishing her final semester at Boise State University, she was eager to learn how workforce policy connects with real people’s lives. When asked what inspired her to apply, Isabelle shared that she’s always been drawn to work that makes a difference. The Council’s mission to connect education, business, and workforce development immediately caught her attention.
“I was especially excited to learn more about grant processes and how policy and programs shape real career pathways.”
Over the semester, Isabelle took on a variety of meaningful projects. One of her most significant contributions was designing a healthcare industry survey to help assess workforce development efforts and inform future strategies. She also kept the WDC’s website up to date, supported outreach initiatives, and created engaging content for social media. Each assignment deepened her understanding of the Council’s day-to-day work and the broader workforce system in Idaho. A standout moment came during committee and Council meetings, where Isabelle observed how decisions are made at the state level, particularly around grant awards.
“Meeting professionals across different industries and sectors and seeing how passionate they are about preparing Idahoans for the future was very inspiring as well.”
Reflecting on her experience, Isabelle noted that one of the most important lessons she’ll carry forward is the value of communication and collaboration. Whether working on a survey or diving into a new project, she learned how essential teamwork is in a large, cross-functional environment. For future interns, Isabelle offered this advice:
“Be curious, ask questions, take initiative, and don’t be afraid to jump into new projects!
After completing her internship, Isabelle graduated with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration with a Nonprofit Management minor. Shortly after, she accepted a position as the Marketing Assistant for the City of Caldwell Parks and Recreation. She hopes one day to use her degree to bridge the gap between the public sector and the nonprofit sector and continue to make an impact until then.
Thank you Isabelle, for being a part of our team!
