Talent Pipeline Management
Talent Pipeline Management, also known as TPM, is an employer-driven solution to close the skills gap and match workers with careers. Employers begin by identifying essential roles in their company, then map out a training path to equip new or current employees with the skills to succeed in those roles. In collaboration with job seekers and educators, employers can meet their talent needs and creates clear paths into high quality careers. This method also helps identify and support workers’ needs, providing for accessible and valuable career pathways.

Current Talent Sourcing Method
Current talent sourcing methods largely rely on workers to guide themselves through their education and training, then guess their way to a career. This disorganized method is full of obstacles: students may not know what all their career options are, and once they find a career they want to pursue, the requirements to get there are often unclear. The result is that many workers pay for a costly education only to find they have limited career options, meanwhile employers still lack talent to fill in-demand roles.
TPM
TPM lifts the fog by connecting employers and educators to give students options and a clear path to follow. Outreach can begin as early as middle school with career awareness events, and can continue with increased levels of engagement and training. Once hired, employers continue training their new employee to fill core senior positions and maintain critical company knowledge. This process creates a win-win-win for employers, educators, and Idahoans seeking careers and opportunities.
Idaho Industries Already Using TPM
Food Processing
With technologies and workforce needs changing rapidly in the manufacturing industry, it is imperative for employers to be able to train new hires and upskills current employees in order to pivot quickly. Multiple companies in the food processing industry have come together with the College of Southern Idaho to create a new Maintenance Technician apprenticeship in order to meet that need. By collaborating to identify their talent needs, all companies in an industry can benefit.
